Modern Warfare 2 UK’s Biggest Selling Game Ever

According to Chart-Track, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is now the UK’s biggest selling video game, ever!

After forty-one weeks, only three of those weeks outside of the top ten, Infinity Wards shooter took the crown from the previous all-time UK best-seller, Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training. Chart-Track didn’t have any official sales numbers to hand but you can be sure Activision will have some sort of announcement about Modern Warfare 2′s latest milestone soon.

It took ‘Dr Kawashima’ around 36 months to overtake the previous record holder!

Modern Warfare 2 Inspired Tees

How would you like to roll (I mean hang-out, not literally… roll) in a cool Modern Warfare inspired tee? Well, a guy who goes by the name of ‘chicken sashimi’ (hehe) has designed some awesome tees that are sure to get a nod when passing Modern Warfare fans notice you on the ‘streets’ (yeah, like you actually go out!)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Demo Hits XBL, PSN

After almost a year, a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 demo is available on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. It seems a little strange that a demo for a game is released so long after the full game has been released, but it’s pretty obvious that Activison are trying to squeeze out as many Modern Warfare 2 sales as they can prior to Call of Duty: Black Ops hitting the streets this November.

Modern War Gear Solid Act 2

Last week we posted the first Act of Beatdownboogie’s Modern Warfare Gear Solid, in which Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid teams up with Infinity War’s Ghost to battle the evil Activistsun empire. As promised, the second Act – called ‘Sunburn’, went live today.

When Makarov and Liquid Ocelot team up to create Modern Gear, it’s up to Snake and Ghost to stop them. But who is the real mastermind controlling Makarov and Liquid?7

Modern War Gear Solid Act 3 has been promised by the makers. Although, they “don’t know how long it will take to finish – it might take a few months”. Well post it when it drops.

Modern Warfare 2 Bans Lifted, Players Gifted L4D2

You may have heard, or been victim of the latest Modern Warfare 2 VAC ban wave that has been going down over the last week or so on Steam. People have been complaining all over the Interwebs and creating groups to voice their frustration about the unfair and seemingly random 12,000 MW2 bannings on Valves PC gaming platform. It was thought that those who have been hit by VAC would need to repurchase the game in order to play it again.

Well, as it turns out, affected users have been given an apology from Valve president Gabe Newell, their bans have been lifted. By way of apology affected users have been given a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2, plus another copy for gifting.

From his email: The problem was that Steam would fail a signature check between the disk version of a DLL and a latent memory version. This was caused by a combination of conditions occurring while Steam was updating the disk image of a game. This wasn’t a game-specific mistake. Steam allows us to manage and reverse these erroneous bans (about 12,000 erroneous bans over two weeks).

We have reversed the ban, restoring your access to the game. In addition, we have given you a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2 to give as a gift on Steam, plus a free copy for yourself if you didn’t already own the game.

If the issue is not specific to just Modern Warfare 2, why are all the complaints we’ve been hearing about only related to that one game? Hmm. At any rate, I’d say this situation was handled pretty darn well.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Old Lady Easter Egg on Underpass

I can’t begin to imagine how people worked out how to do this, but, if you shoot a certain number of bullets into the four corners of a particular door on Underpass, then throw a flash grenade at the door… wait for it… an old lady opens the door and walks out to say hello!

Yes, this is deadly serious, even if slightly strange. Check it out for yourself below. Then, next time you’re playing on underpass watch everybody gather round to reveal Modern Warfare 2’s secret Underpass easter egg, only too get blown up by any savvy enemy that’s lurking under the bridge.

Modders Make a Modern Warfare 2 Zombie Mode

Those modders have been at it again with their JTagged Xboxes. Here at MW2Blog we’re not advocates of modding, but this is actually pretty cool. They’ve only gone and made a Zombie-type mod/mode for Modern Warfare 2! So, here’s how it works…

18 people race to the top of rust, first 9 to hit the top become zombie killers. The 9 that dont make it to the top become zombies who can only knife. If the zombie kills you, you become the zombie which means you have to fight back to get to the top of rust.

A lot of people are bound to want to play this modded Modern Warfare 2 Zombie game mode. The bad news is that unless you have, or know somebody with a modded Xbox that knows how to do this mod, your not going to be able to.
